M2B’s “Made Up North Breakfasts“
are a valuable way to encourage and develop the talent of people working in Manchester. The format is simple: over a great breakfast you meet like-minded professionals, learn from outstanding, senior professionals who share insights and lessons drawn from their unique business experience. It’s a relaxed environment with plenty of conversation, it’s invitation only (we deliberately keep it to 6-8 guests) and we make sure we stick to our timings!
When: Friday 6th July, 8.00 – 9.15am
Where: The Albert Square Chop House, Albert Square, Manchester. M2 5PF
Guest Speaker: Andy James is a Director of OMI Architects.
OMI has been around since 1993 and the firm is one of the leading design-led practices in the North West cutting its teeth on radical conversions of some of Manchester’s most important redundant heritage assets including Duke’s 92 and the Peoples History Museum. OMI has received a series of awards for design excellence including 11 national and regional RIBA Awards. Andy has overseen and developed OMI’s residential work which ranges from large-scale city centre apartment schemes to affordable housing in some of the region’s most challenging communities. To date, OMI has built nearly 4000 homes and its recently completed Manchester apartment schemes at Greengate, Alto and Wilburn Wharf are now making their mark on the City’s skyline.
This month saw the opening of the new Mustard Tree HQ, £1.65 million was raised to fund the new building for the Mustard Tree charity, which supports homeless and marginalised people.
Andy explains: “This project is close to our hearts. The Mustard Tree has been leading the way in providing practical support and training for the last 24 years. Our work on the building has helped create high-quality spaces and facilities which will expand the support on offer for Manchester’s most vulnerable citizens.”
In his talk Andy will share key lessons and wisdom he’s learnt and applied throughout his work.
