On 14th January 2003, Robin Oake received news no parent wants to hear – his son, Stephen, had been murdered. Stephen, a Detective Constable with Greater Manchester Police, had been stabbed to death during an arrest on a suspected terrorist. During a press conference the next day Robin stunned reporters by saying he was praying for his son’s killer and had forgiven him.
In this Faith@Work interview Robin will share insights from his extensive experience as a police officer in counter terrorism, part of which was served here in Manchester. We will also explore the issue of forgiveness and how his Christian faith made sense of this tragic loss. Anyone is welcome to attend whether you have religious beliefs or not.
